York
York is the ancient capital of Yorkshire, and has been an important city since Roman times. The visit to York is one of the most popular English Experience excursions.
York was one of the great cities of the medieval world, and is still surrounded by its ancient walls, and dominated by the soaring towers of York Minster, which is said by many to be the finest Gothic cathedral in northern Europe.
We begin our visit to York at the cathedral, then we have free time for shopping (York is one of the best shopping destinations in the north of England) before we visit the Viking museum. York was Viking England’s capital city and important remains have been found there. The museum is a lively, interactive museum, particularly good for children.
