Big Ben

The clock tower of the Houses of Parliament is one of London’s most famous sights.

Big Ben is actually the nickname for the huge bell of the clock which you can see on the tower, but people often call the clock or even the whole clock tower simply ‘Big Ben’.

The name may have come from Sir Benjamin Hall, an important official at the Houses of Parliament when the bell was made in the 1850s, and whose name is written on the bell.

We can hear the bell chiming as we take photos on our sightseeing tour!
